What we designed

The team designed two distinct applications that work in tandem to facilitate the use of the G4 sequencer and enable full functionality. The off-instrument management app supports tasks outside of the lab—i.e. preparing experiments, viewing results, monitoring instruments remotely, and scheduling. The on-instrument control app is optimized for the lab floor using a touch screen to guide users to properly load their experiments, run sequences, and check the status of active runs.

The project required close collaboration with the Singular Genomics team. Their machine was still in development, and we needed to be able to deliver a functional interface without getting a Ph.D. in genetics. We had regular conversations and reviews with their engineers, scientists, and business leaders to assure our designs aligned with their priorities for the MVP launch and met their technical requirements.

We delivered a comprehensive set of screens for the end-to-end experience along with detailed process flows for moments requiring additional complexity.
